Andreina together with her child.

Í on the occasion of sláandi interview with the faithful man Efling, M. Andreina Edwards Quero, by the company Ræstitækni ehf. which appeared in the TV news RÚV on 14. febrúar Efling union wishes to publish the following information

The managers of Ræstitækni began in March 2024 an unreasonable dismissal of Andreina from her duties as a confidante and other conduct that showed her hostility. It was described, among other things, as follows:

  • Contact was made with Efling and Andreina was sued for disseminating false information to co‑workers without any evidence being presented for those accusations against her.
  • Andreina was summoned to a meeting of three superiors where she was told that she must not have direct communication with her fellow workers about wage issues and that she must seek the supervisor's permission to do so. This is a violation of workers' rights.
  • Andreinu was ordered by the superiors to admit to her colleagues that she had provided them with false information. No evidence existed that she had done so.
  • Andreina was denied attending a confidentiality training course, contrary to collective agreement provisions.
  • The same day Andreina held a staff meeting, to introduce the rights of the colleagues and offer them assistance Efling in examining their conditions, two of her co‑workers were dismissed. Both were friends of Andreina and had spoken out about rights issues in the company.
  • Lawyer Efling made a verbal agreement with Ræstitækni that Andreina would receive an extended parental leave due to illness. Ræstitækni broke this promise, in violation of the law.

Ræstitækni violates collective agreements in many sections

Efling has repeatedly requested meetings with the defenders of Rescue Technology and data on the organization of work, without success. The Business Confederation has taken it upon itself to answer for the company since April 2024 and has supported its position.

At Ræstitækni, about 30 Efling members work. Most are from Venezuela and many of them only speak Spanish. They drive between worksites and it is required to finish cleaning at up to 13 different locations within the same day all over the capital region. They are monitored through GPS equipment. Employees have no access to a kitchen or facilities to eat during the day. Their workday is organized such that they get no meal break.

Employees of Ræstitækni must complete tasks within a certain time, often at a high work speed. This is called time‑measured piecework, for which a 20% higher hourly rate shall be paid. No employee of Ræstitækni receives wages in accordance with that.

Measurements that Efling had a foreign expert perform show that it is impossible to do the work that Ræstitækni requires at the intended speed. The work rate for Andreinu at the site that was measured would have needed to be 190, but a normal work rate according to collective agreements is 100.

In a workplace safety inspection that was carried out at the workplace because of Andreinu after she became unwell says that she has „rarely reliable access to a toilet“ and that „therefore with some kind of bowl out in a car that she uses for urination.“ The owner of the company said in an RÚV news report on February 14 that he does not recognize this, despite the fact that the company itself had ordered the inspection and sent her to lawyer Efling.
