Remember the holiday bonus!
Efling union draws members' attention to the fact that, according to most collective agreements, employers must pay holiday bonus on June 1 of the coming year in addition to regular wages.
Members are therefore encouraged to pay special attention to whether that payment will not certainly be reflected in the next salary disbursement, by reviewing their payslip carefully. If there is any doubt that holiday bonus has been correctly paid out or other questions arise, members are advised to contact the confidential advisors at their workplaces, or the union itself.
Holiday bonus is a fixed amount and vacation is not calculated on top of it. The allowance is paid based on the work proportion and working hours. The holiday allowance should be settled before the end of employment.
Here you can find a calculator Efling for holiday bonus. With it, union members can calculate their holiday bonus in a simple and quick way. It is possible to adjust the calculator according to different collective agreements, including agreements for the general labor market (SA), hotels and restaurants, the City of Reykjavík, state services, other municipalities and nursing homes (SFV). The amount is calculated based on the holiday year 2026, which runs from 1 May 2025 to 30 April 2026.
